Conference Speakers
Lebenslauf:
Professor Dr. Florentina Paraschiv started on a professorship of Finance at the Technical University of
Denmark (DTU), in the Climate and Energy Policy Division, on 1st September 2025. She previously held
the Chair of Finance and led the ZF-Centre for Sustainability Research at the Zeppelin University in
Germany. Between 2017-2021, she worked as full Professor of Financial Economics at the Norwegian
University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Florentina`s research has a strong background in energy economics, sustainable finance, and banking.
Her research explores how financial systems can better support the transition to a sustainable
economy. Her work focuses on integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scores into
investment and lending decisions, helping investors and creditors consider climate and social factors
more effectively. As sustainability regulations and climate goals evolve, traditional financial models are
being reexamined. Florentina`s research develops new methods to guide capital toward sustainable
investments and stresses the need for energy and climate policies to be backed by clear, effective
financing strategies. Currently, Florentina is focusing on a project on “Green Banking,” which aims to
help banks and borrowing companies better understand loan-pricing strategies during catastrophic
events in Europe. This has become an increasingly pressing issue due to climate change events, such
as forest fires, flooding, and droughts. If these catastrophes exceed a certain threshold, the role of
bank lending becomes crucial.
Florentina has received multiple accolades for her work, such as: 2019 Award by the Austrian
Operations Research Society (Best Dissertation Award Daniela Escobar) for joint research on "Pricing
electricity futures with distortion functions under model ambiguity"; 2019 Awarded Simons Fellowship
for research stay at the University of Cambridge, Energy Systems program, Isaac Newton Institute for
Mathematical Sciences; November 2016 – ECOMFIN Best Paper Award, Energy and Commodity
Finance Conference, Paris (published in Journal of Banking and Finance); October 2013 – DK Gupta
Memorial Best Energy Paper Award 2013 (OR Spectrum), Conference Energy Finance, Essen.
