Curriculum Vitae:

Since 2024, Pascal Hasenmaier has been a doctoral researcher at the Chair of Energy Trading and Finance (Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Kiesel) at the University of Duisburg-Essen, part of the House of Energy, Climate & Finance (HECF). His research is situated at the intersection of climate economics, stochastic modelling, and quantitative risk management. He extends integrated assessment models (IAMs), in particular the DICE model developed by Nobel laureate William Nordhaus, with stochastic climate tipping points and studies how such mechanisms reshape the distribution and the tail behaviour of the Social Cost of Carbon. A second strand of his work addresses model uncertainty in the assessment of climate-related financial risk.

He teaches derivatives and risk management at Bachelor and Master level.

He holds a Master of Science in Markets & Firms from the University of Duisburg-Essen, with a focus on risk management and decision theory. His master's thesis on game-theoretical approaches to climate policy (graded 1.0) laid the foundation for his doctoral research.

He also completed graduate-level courses at MIT and Cambridge Assessment International Education, covering topics such as antifragility, probability, and education for gifted learners.

Additional information on academic activities, teaching experience, and international projects can be found on his LinkedIn profile.
